March Madness – Win Tickets!

March Madness is our favorite form of lunacy.  We are entertained by the smack talk from fans of opposing teams, the filling out of brackets, the ensuing smack talk, the rearranging of schedules to not miss a single game and the smack talk from the bracket winner.

We also enjoy the actual games.

We figure some of you do too, but that you’d enjoy it even more on the big screen. We have teamed up with Sun Basin Theatres to give away a total of 20 tickets to their viewings of the semi-finals (March 31st) and finals (April 2nd) in the VIP Spot at the Gateway Cinema. This is for the 21 and older crowd, only. Enjoy beer and wine, an exclusive menu, personal service and luxury seating all while watching some of the best basketball of the season!

We’ve already given away the semi-final tickets. To win tickets to the FINALS (April 2nd at 6pm), keep your eye on Cascade Autocenter’s Facebook page. We’ll have NCAA Championship trivia questions each day and the first to answer correctly will win a pair of tickets to the championship game.

Until then, keep up the smack talk.

Tracking Trees – Growing Love

Hundreds of trees have been planted locally and are thriving thanks to Subaru’s “Share the Love” event!

Our planet’s health depends on forests to provide clean air, clean water and habitat for wildlife. Through our participation in the “Share the Love” event, we helped to distribute new trees throughout the valley to help support a cooler, greener, healthier world for generations to come. What an impact!

So, where did the local tree go? We were able to track some of them.

Their first stop was the GWATA (Greater Wenatchee Area Technology Alliance) Christmas party, where they were handed out as party favors. Many attendees said they were going to give each of their children one to pot and grow as their own. Some took handfuls to nurture through the winter with plans of planting them in their yard come spring. Several people grabbed an extra tree or two for friends.

After the party, two neighbors in Malaga each took an armful of seedlings to plant on their Joe Miller Road properties. The Steeres will plant theirs for shade and landscaping purposes. The Price-Lyons plan to use theirs as a wind block.

The remaining trees made the trek up to Hog Hollow Christmas Tree Farm in Ardenvoir, where the Coopers potted about 70 trees. Some will be transplanted to become future Christmas trees. The rest will be given to next year’s customers as gifts. The Coopers also gave a bunch of trees to one of their neighbors who will plant the trees to create a visible property line.

We’re pleased to learn that the seedlings will all be planted and are being used in a variety of ways. We weren’t able to track each one, but it was fun to hear about some of the bigger uses. We will all benefit from each new tree planted!

About Subaru’s “Share the Love”

Subaru’s fourth annual “Share the Love” promotion ended earlier this week. For every new car leased or sold during the promotional period, Subaru made a donation of $250 to one of five outstanding charities: American Forests, the ASPCA, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Meals On Wheels Association of America, or the Special Olympics. Shoppers chose which of the five will receive Subaru’s gift.

In addition to the opportunity to give back to the five charities, Subaru provided 35,000 seedlings from American Forests to customers who visit their dealerships. More than 15 different species of seedlings were distributed to provide each location with trees suited to grow in their region of the country. Cascade Autocenter was given 350 White Pine seedlings to hand out and we tried to track where they ended up.

It’s all starting to come together at Cascade Chevrolet. Over the past few months, an extensive remodel has been in progress. The entire exterior and interior has been modified and the amazing new front entryway is starting to take shape!

Yesterday they were setting the forms that will become the new “front porch” of the dealership:

Mazda Skyactiv

Mazda’s new Skyactiv technology is ambitious. The comprehensive engineering effort made changes to internal-combustion processes that have been in place for more than 100 years, leaving everyone else wondering, “Why didn’t we come up with that?”

While other automakers spent billions of dollars researching, developing, and building hybrids and electric cars, Mazda directed the bulk of its new engineering into new car designs that provide reliability and performance while serving up a magic number of 40 mpg in highway driving.

Check it out:

We’ve been a Mazda dealership for twenty-five years now, and it’s been a thrilling ride. Mazda has turned the design world on its end and continues to offer up exciting new models with exceptional design from the visual contours to the powerhouse under the hood.

Twenty-five years – what a milestone! Here’s a picture from yesterday of Steve Baldock, President, Berit VandeBrake, Assistant General Manager and Tom Welch, General Manager receiving a plaque from Dave Scott, Mazda Western Region Zone Manager in recognition of Cascade Autocenter’s 25th anniversary as a Mazda dealer.

Share the Love

For the fourth year in a row, Subaru is holding its annual “Share the Love” event to benefit five national charities. This gives shoppers and opportunity to get a good deal on a great car AND make a gift to charity. One-stop shopping and philanthropy at its finest!

The “Share the Love” promotion is running now through January 3, 2012. For every new car leased or sold during the promotional period, Subaru will make a donation of $250 to one of five outstanding charities: American Forests, the ASPCA, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Meals On Wheels Association of America, or the Special Olympics. Shoppers choose which of the five will receive Subaru’s gift.

Not in the market for a new car? No problem: you can still make a donation to charity. Just visit Subaru of America on Facebook, click the “Share the Love” tab on the left-hand side, and tap the button in the center of the page to make a $1 donation to one of the five organizations. Subaru will contribute up to $250,000 for the Facebook gifts. (So far, the ASPCA has received over 80% of the clicks, which may not be surprising, given Subaru’s reputation as being one of the most pet-friendly brands on the road.)

The automaker says it contributed over $15 million to charity during the first three years, and Subaru has set a goal of pushing that number to $20 million by January 3.

In addition to the opportunity to give back to the five charities, Subaru has provided 35,000 seedlings from American Forests to customers who visit their dealerships. More than 15 different species of seedlings were distributed to provide each location with trees suited to grow in their region of the country.

Cascade Autocenter has 350 White Pine seedlings available for free, to whoever wants to pick them up. Just call Barb at 663-0088.

Our planet’s health depends on forests to provide clean air, clean water and habitat for wildlife. Through our participation in the “Share the Love” event, we hope to plant one million new trees throughout America to help support a cooler, greener, healthier world for generations to come.

First 2012 Delivery (in the Nation!)

Last Wednesday night was pretty exciting on the Cascade Autocenter campus. With only a couple days warning our marketing guru, Glen Carlson, was notified that Cascade Autocenter would be receiving the very first delivery in the nation of the much anticipated 2012 Impreza. What a huge honor!

The original launch of the Impreza was slated for August, however with the tragic earthquake and tsunami in Japan, the launch was delayed. Almost 3,000 orders were placed for the Impreza from August through October.

The first boat of vehicles arrived from Japan to Subaru’s Vancouver port on Friday, November 4. From the list of customer orders Subaru of America selected Peshastin resident Julie Blazquez to be highlighted as the first person to take delivery of the all-new 2012 Impreza. Ms. Blazquez, who purchased her vehicle through Cascade Subaru, graciously accepted.

Julie, her husband Jose and their dog Duke took delivery of their beautiful new, dark grey Impreza on Wednesday evening at a small, catered ceremony with several regional and national Subaru representatives in attendance. Julie later wrote “Jose and I would just like to thank everyone at Subaru and here at Cascade for the most awesome event!” They were overwhelmed by all the gifts and especially the bike rack.  She continued, “needless to say, the car is beautiful, and I really look forward to experiencing all it has to give.”

Cascade Autocenter was thrilled to be chosen as the first point of delivery for the Impreza 2012, and especially happy that the delivery went to Julie who was already a Subaru owner and fan.

“The delivery event with Julie and Jose was the bow that topped the gift of being the first dealership in the nation selected to deliver the first 2012 Impreza. The folks here at Cascade are still basking the glow of it all,” said Carlson.

Congratulations Julie – we can’t wait to see you and your new ride around town!  Here’s a video of Julie unwrapping her new purchase.

Testimony – George and Joanna Mengelos

Longtime Cascade customers George and Joanna Mengelos are the kind of couple who know what the other is thinking and can finish each other’s sentences.

Which stands to reason – they’ve been married 61 years. So you could say the Mengelos’ know a little something about commitment.

They’ve been committed Cascade customers for years and when asked why they respond simultaneously: “Roger Stern.”

Stern is the service manager at Cascade and George and Joanna say he’s earned their loyalty through years of looking out for their best interests.

“Roger’s first class as far as we’re concerned,” George said.

“Looking out for his customers is what he does,” said Joanna. “And that’s good customer service.”

When asked to relate a specific instance of Cascade customer service in action, George tells the story of when he brought the couple’s Jeep in for a routine oil change and tune up. Roger and the service department did the job gratis and George was so moved he went down to Applebee’s and bought Roger a gift card so he could take his family to dinner just to show their appreciation.

The couple owns two vehicles, a Jeep and an ’08 Subaru Legacy they bought at Cascade. And Joanna said her husband is quite fastidious about the general upkeep on their vehicles – so they see Roger and the service department quite often.

In fact, George has earned himself a nick name in the Service Center – “Visa George” – because he always pays with his Visa card.

And it’s a moniker George and Joanna enjoy. Joanna said they get a kick out of it when they call the service department and hear, “Roger! It’s Visa Georgie for you!”

Personal care and dedication are qualities the Menjelos’ value and because of that they send friends and family to the Cascade Service Center too. About a year and a half ago their daughter needed some work done on her car and the couple just said: “Go see Roger.”

Because bottom line – “They treat you right. And they do a good job for you,” said Joanna.

Pardon Our Dust

You may have noticed a lot of activity and dust surrounding our Chevy building.  You haven’t? Check it out. We have some exciting stuff going on!

The Cascade Chevrolet building is getting a stunning makeover.  The outside and inside will receive a complete overhaul. Why? For several reasons, the most important being that you, our customer, deserve to be served in a building that reflects the exceptional quality of our GM products and our service, sales and support teams.

Owner Steve Baldock said, “When you look around at the car dealerships, the truth is that most of the cars today are really pretty good cars, right? So what it comes down to is what else do we have to offer?  A good car? Other dealers have that. A good facility? Other dealers have that. We have to sell our culture. Who are we?  We’re community-minded. We’re concerned about our customers. We need to demonstrate that commitment to our community and customers.”

Cascade Chevrolet strives for an environment fitting of who we are.

The new changes include not only a revamped look, but a larger show room and an expanded customer lounge that includes a children’s play area. The whole remodel is designed around making the facility more comfortable to do business in.

The construction is scheduled to be complete in early 2012 and the Grand Reopening will include Saturday service in both shops.

“I’m terribly excited about this,” said Baldock. “I like things neat and fresh. It’s not my style to have something look a little dog-eared. I’m happy to provide my customers and employees an environment that’s fun, clean and efficient. It represents the success we have, and who we are.”

Not only is Cascade Autocenter doing everything we can to make tour facility inviting and comfortable, we’re also going green. We have the new Chevy Volt onsite with a charging station, we’re working hard to recycle as much as possible and finding that even the little choices in this remodel make a difference – like using motion sensors for the lights in the bathrooms.

If Steve Baldock had his way, he’d put solar panels on the roof, visible from the highway. Sure, it doesn’t make that much sense in an area with inexpensive power, but he likes to make a statement. And the statement he’s making is this: At Cascade Autocenter, we are committed to the environment, our customers and our community.

So, please, pardon our dust. We guarantee you’ll appreciate the results!
